April 17, Kampala — The Lugazi Industrial Park (LIPA) Management Team was honored to participate in the Sector and Site Selection Workshop for Green Freezones organized by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) on Thursday, April 17th.
This important workshop provided a platform for GGGI to engage with potential partners in identifying and supporting industrial parks that align with green growth and sustainable industrialization goals.
About GGGI
The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is an international, intergovernmental organization established to support and promote environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive economic growth in developing and emerging countries. Through targeted partnerships and funding programs, GGGI works to accelerate the transition toward green economies by supporting projects that foster innovation, sustainability, and inclusive development.
LIPA’s Green Journey
Lugazi Industrial Park (LIPA), which is already compliant with Export Free Trade Zone regulations, was recognized as a strong candidate for GGGI’s ongoing Green Freezones initiative. If LIPA fully qualifies, GGGI will support the park with a grant of up to 10 million USD to further its green infrastructure and sustainable industrial goals.
This potential funding will not only enhance the park’s facilities and services but also further reinforce its commitment to environmental responsibility, value-added manufacturing, and youth-focused industrial development in Uganda.
The LIPA team was represented at the workshop by a member of the management and Mr. Jeremiah Kasirivu, as part of a strategic effort to ensure LIPA remains at the forefront of Uganda’s industrial transformation.
Looking Ahead
We remain hopeful and prayerful that this opportunity bears fruit. Securing this grant would be a game-changer — accelerating LIPA’s mission to provide ready-to-use, eco-conscious industrial space for Uganda’s next generation of manufacturers and exporters.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue building a sustainable, inclusive, and industrially vibrant future for Uganda.
