Lugazi, Uganda – As part of its ongoing efforts to catalyze Uganda’s industrialization and export-led growth, the Uganda Development Bank (UDB) made its first official visit to Lugazi Industrial Park (LIPA) this week.
The high-level delegation was led by Ms. Patricia Ojangole, Managing Director of UDB, accompanied by Mr. Mahamoud Andama (Director of Investments) and Mr. Ivan Kisembo (Head of Project Preparation). The visit marks a significant milestone in the collaboration between LIPA and UDB as both institutions explore ways to unlock financing and technical support for community-centered industrial development.
Purpose of the Visit
The UDB team toured the park to assess the progress made so far and witness firsthand the tangible strides taken in transforming LIPA into a key industrial hub in Uganda. The bank expressed strong interest in the park’s community-based approach to industrialization, which aligns closely with UDB’s mission to empower local value chains and SMEs.
Notable Highlights of the Visit
The delegation was impressed by the infrastructure already in place at LIPA, including:
Industrial-grade access roads

Reliable water infrastructure
The tour also showcased the commitment of existing off-takers, such as:

Media Coverage and Next Steps
UDB’s communications team will soon release a formal press statement, which will be shared with LIPA’s media team for public dissemination. This collaborative media effort is expected to raise awareness about the potential of Lugazi Industrial Park and attract further investor interest.
